PENSION ADMINISTRATOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM - NOVEMBER 12-14, 2017

Program Overview
The Pension Administrator Certification (PAC) Program is designed for those individuals in local government who are responsible for daily tasks related to the management of the 600+ Police and Fire Pension plans in the State of Illinois. Such tasks include payroll setup, benefit program setup, and benefit processing and reporting. Any individual who is responsible for such tasks, regardless of job title, shall be eligible to pursue the certification.

The goal of the certification program is to help ensure that pension administrators understand the ever-changing and complex duties and responsibilities necessary to properly maintain the police and fire pension records. The Pension Administrator typically works in conjunction with a Retirement Coordinator, with whom responsibilities are closely aligned but whose emphasis lies more on the retirement aspects of the individual. Side note: The Illinois Public Pension Fund Association (IPPFA) offers the Retirement Coordinator Program as well as a “Certified Trustee Program"  for those who serve as trustees to the public pension plans.

EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS

Our #1 reason for being!

First, and foremost, we have conducted educational seminars for treasurers and financial officers of all municipalities. This has been done on both statewide and regional basis. These seminars include one-day workshops, two and three-day conferences, and also the Illinois Municipal Treasurers Institute which is a four day affair leading to certification as an Illinois municipal treasurer, and at the national level.

The range of topics covered at the seminars include current legislative and professional issues, budgeting, bonding, motor fuel taxes, audit control, investments, police and fire pension administration, economic development, grants, home rule, and interest rates, just to name a few. The topics have been as many and varied as our membership. These seminars have been provided since our inception.
